  • Update from another user with the same symptoms

I started some other thread earlier I saw this one.  We take the same symptoms afterward installing SP1 (and RU5 immediately after SP1).

I followed the suggestion in the linked blog post to repair the Commutation Search Symbolic Links and to reset the Search Index.  That did non gear up annihilation.  I take non done setup /prepareschema or setup /preparead, which I have seen referenced in other posts on this topic.

I accept seen Events 9842 and 9877.  Later a second reset of the Search Index, I have only seen 9877, and that issue tin can exist triggered by any mailbox search whether from online Outlook, Outlook Anywhere, or OWA.  Non every such search triggers an issue.  Searches from online Outlook, Outlook Anywhere, or the OWA unread items folder succeed, fifty-fifty if 9877 is triggered.

  • "The action could non be completed. Please try once more"

We also saw this mistake subsequently a failed attempt to upgrade an Substitution 2010sp-i RU 5 server to RU 6.

I discovered that the Microsoft Exchange Search Indexer service was not started, despite existence fix to "Automatic". When I tried to start it, information technology failed with the error "service or dependency group failed to start."

Since that ways there'southward another service not working I looked and so found a second service, "Microsoft Search (exchange)" that was set to "disabled." I set it to "manual" and so was able to start the Microsoft Exchange Search Indexer.

    OWA searches worked after that.

  • I eliminated this problem and the associated Events 9842 and 9877 by making the MSExchangeSearch service dependent on the MSExchangeIS service, and restarting both.

  • "The action could not exist completed. Delight try once more"

We also saw this fault afterwards a failed try to upgrade an Exchange 2010sp-1 RU 5 server to RU 6.

I discovered that the Microsoft Exchange Search Indexer service was not started, despite being set to "Automatic". When I tried to start it, it failed with the error "service or dependency group failed to start."

Since that means there's some other service non working I looked and so found a 2nd service, "Microsoft Search (exchange)" that was set to "disabled." I fix information technology to "transmission" and so was able to start the Microsoft Exchange Search Indexer.

    OWA searches worked later that.

This stock-still my problem equally well.  The outcome as well started for me on a failed (via WU) install of RU6 from RU5.  Installing SP2 + RU1 didn't fix information technology but irresolute startup of service did.

  • How-do-you-do, how exercise y'all fix this please

  • I'm the administrator for a SBS 2011 server that is still having this issue. I accept rebuilt the Index file several times without much luck. Randomly the search volition piece of work, but more frequently not. I'g at my wits stop and any proposition on how to fix this outcome would be great.

  • You lot will need to execute a script on the affected Mailbox servers that reinstalls the symbolic links:

    • Download the script Repair-ExchangeSearchSymlinks.ps1  from the Script Center.
    • Copy theRepair-ExchangeSearchSymlinks.ps1 script to the Scripts directory on the Mailbox server (default installation is C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\v14\Scripts).
    • On the afflicted Mailbox server, open up the Commutation Management Shell past right-clicking the shortcut and selecting"Run equally Administrator".
    • Within the Exchange Management Trounce, navigate to the Exchange Scripts directory.
    • Within the Exchange Management Trounce, run the following script:

    .\Repair-ExchangeSearchSymlinks.ps1

    • Within the Substitution Management Beat, run the following script (without the symbols [] and substitute the database proper noun(southward) for any databases yous wish to reset:

    .\ResetSearchIndex.ps1 [-force] <dbname> [<dbname>]...

    • Yous will receive anEvent ID 109 when the rebuilding of the index starts for each database and anEvent ID 110 for each database when the index rebuild has completed.
    • Delight consider: you take to wait upwardly to 24 hours when the alphabetize rebuild has completed and a fter receiving Event ID 110  for each database, examination to make sure search functions correctly with both OWA and Outlook operating in Online Manner.
  • How-do-you-do all,

I've had this issue for a long time. tried most of whats out there but finally resolved past pointing the DB at the right RPC CAS server (in my case i have 3 DAG/CAS servers and i HT/CAS server. I had to point the DAG DB to the HT/CAS server.

    i accept used this command:

Ready-MailboxDatabase -Identity "Mailbox Database Proper noun" -RpcClientAccessServer cas.server.com

    Cheers,
